Our focus on sustainability through agricultural projects has been one of the most exciting areas for Spirit Liberia in 2008. Currently we are working on three different sites and will be adding two or three more this season. These sites are currently in the ground development/seeding stages.

Each of these projects have a sustainability focus as well as a spiritual focus. Many of the projects we will be working on will be directly supporting churches. The support of agricultural projects will bring much needed financial support to these churches. For only $250, a church can develop approximately two acres of land and see a harvest profit of almost $1,000 US dollars. The "seed money" will be managed by Spirit Liberia to ensure proper use of funds. We will also help with agricultural training as needed.

Some of the agricultural projects will be completely managed and developed by Spirit Liberia. In these cases, we will be able to employ locals to help in the projects. Employment is very difficult to come by for most Liberians (Liberia currently has approximately 85% unemployment). In these cases, Spirit Liberia will also be supplying meals and devotional training to those employed for the work.

Also, included in our agricultural long-term plans, we will be doing fish ponds and forestry. These projects will begin in 2009.
