SPIRIT LIBERIA PROJECTS

MEETING BASIC NEEDS

One of our objectives as an organization is to show the love of Christ through having compassion for others. This compassion can be shown in many different forms.

As Spirit Liberia continues to grow relationships in the communities we work in, we are beginning to see ways of "meeting basic needs" of the people we interact with. Each month, we work to meet at least one of these needs.

Since each week these "blessings" will change, we felt it would be great to just periodically update some of the ways this compassion for others is panning out. As you can imagine, the people we are helping are seeing the hope we have in Christ and desire also to one day return the blessing to someone else.

SCHOOL TUITIONS PAID

PODIUM SUPPLIED

"Ma Ruth" is a wonderful lady we met while doing devotionals at the Gjerstad's home in October. She is a wonderful lady and has been struggling due to the death of her husband a while ago. She has wonderful children who desired to go to school, but because they did not have the tuition, they were unable to learn. Ma Ruth is recently widowed and left to care for her eight children without her husband.

We had the blessing of sponsoring her three youngest children this year for school. What a blessing it was to give her the money and see the smile on her face. The smile did not even go away when we got a picture of her and her children!

While in Liberia, I was asked to speak at a church in Peace Island area. The church, which also runs a small school, was one of the most destitute churches I found in all of Liberia to date. My heart went out for the church and pastor, Pastor Prince.

After leaving, some of our local staff took me to a carpenter shop and we had a new podium built. It was Friday but the shop worked around the clock to design, build, and stain the podium. What a blessing to be able to bring it to him that Sunday just an hour before his service began.

PROJECT LIBERTY   PATIENCE PLEASE

Although this project is still in development, we are so excited about it we wanted to post it here for people to know it is coming.

Spirit Liberia is partnering with Forget Me Not Childrens Home through Global Orphan Outreach on a project to meet the needs of Liberia's POOREST!!!

Global Orphan Outreach is building a special needs orphanage (one of the only) in Liberia. Our plan is to partner individual families from churches we are working with to visit and provide nurturing and relationships with these special children. We will keep you updated when this project begins!

Imagine being a new mother of twins. You have no food, no milk, no job and no way to care for the children. What a scary, desperate feeling to watch your children dying in front of you. Is patience simply a virtue at this point?

Meet Patience. She is the mother of seven, two of them being the twins above, named Bless and Blessed. Vanessa met them at the Ministry of Health in Liberia. They were there seeking help from the Government. Patience is recently widowed and the babies were 3 weeks old in these pictures but were obviously premature. The government was able to give her minimal assistance, a bedroll and some formula. They are not able to help her with any other aid. We are currently visiting with her, providing baby formula and other items, as well as helping her learn proper baby care. Please keep her in your prayers. She is in a desperate situation, but God is able to sustain her.
