SPIRIT LIBERIA – MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission to revive
the heart and soul of the Liberian people has three target areas:
v Spiritual Assistance
v Financial Assistance
v Community Assistance
- Spiritual Assistance -
As we work to help the
local church establish itself, the most primary, basic element is to ensure the
local pastors have the biblical training and disciplines necessary to
accurately disciple their congregants.
Spirit
The training will
focus on basic theological training – the essentials of our faith. Many Liberians cannot read or
write. These people need to be
taught the basic truths of the faith so salvation can take place and they can
begin to grow in their relationship with Christ.
As the pastors/elders
build their knowledge and understanding, we will begin to work on programs in
the local church for spiritual training of the congregation.
- Financial Assistance -
The church in
This unfortunate
situation does not allow pastors to be “full-time” pastors. They must find work to support their
family’s financial needs.
Many of the pastors have little time to focus on the Word of God. So our first line of financial
assistance to these churches will be the financial support of the pastor. As this is accomplished, we will ensure
they have the financial means necessary to travel to all necessary training
programs. For most churches, there
is also a desperate need for a church building and finances to help the
congregations and surrounding villages/communities.
- Community Assistance -
As the local churches
become financially stable, they will be able to help the local community
physically and spiritually. The church
needs to become a pillar of faith and hope. The church should be the vehicle used to
help the needs of the local communities.
As the communities see the local church built on a stable foundation
physically and spiritually, they will desire to understand more about it. This is where the gospel becomes real to
the people and they are able to experience true restoration!
